HI GUYS! Sorry for the late blog. Yeah. I found something in chapter 33. Huck reunites with Tom and the are back to scheming. That made me happy because it shows Huck's true age and how he should be behaving. I also like the fact that Tom was so willing to accept the fact that Huck was alive. Tom also agreed to help free Jim. This is out of character for Tom because he grew up learning that an escaped slave must be returned! I'm glad Tom is back. I like the energy and fun he brings to the plot. I feel like his friendship with Tom is lacking though. That may be because he thought that Huck was dead. Jim and Huck have an unconditional friendship. Huck betrayed other people to protect him and he does the same in this section of reading. However, Huck and Tom have a conditional friendship (previously).  Tom always wanted to be the leader and he is educated and religious and has the morals he was taught. I believe that Tom doesn't want friends who disagree with him. Now that Huck has gotten some experience in the world, his idea of religion is different than Tom's. Also Huck is street smart and outdoorsy while Tom is educated in school. The two boys are different in almost every way.  Tom wants followers and if Jim came in the way of Huck and Tom's friendship, Huck would obviously choose Jim.  I hope that Tom isn't secretly planning to betray Huck and get Jim captured. Huck has told a lot of lies to protect Jim. Now Huck and Tom are telling lies together to protect Jim. I really hate that lying comes so easily to everyone in this novel. I think twain was trying to show is how obviously society lies to everyone.  Even the little white lies that Tom told.  "I'm William Thompson". It's almost as easy as the most common lie in the world "I'm fine". People don't realize how many times they lie a day. I think that Tom and Huck were just having fun and they didn't realize the danger of the lies. A lie is a betrayal of truth and it comes so easy to them. They aren't well though out and planned lies, but they were still lies. So... Yeah lies, betrayal and friendships and drug like that!
